Why Do Bladder Accumulators Experience Severe Pressure Drops?

Bladder Accumulatorstructure is very simple. It generally consists of the oil part around the bladder and the gas part containing gas sealing elements. During operation, the oil should connect to the oil circuit. When pressure rises, oil enters the accumulator, compressing the gas. When pressure in the pipeline does not rise, that is acceptable. Once pipeline pressure drops, the compressed air expands and pushes the oil back into the circuit. So what causes severe pressure drops? And what leads to a significantly reduced service life?

1. When pressure drops severely, frequent nitrogen replenishment is required.

The bladder inflation valve generally uses a throttle valve method, usually relying on sealing cone surfaces to achieve sealing. If the accumulator experiences strong vibration during operation, it may cause the valve core to loosen, reducing the sealing performance of the cone surface and leading to gas leakage.

If the cone surface sealing is poor and gas leakage occurs, how to remedy it? You can place an old rubber washer inside the inflation valve dust cap, or grind the sealing cone surface to improve its fit.

In addition, after long-term use, the nut at the top of the valve core may become loose, or the torsion spring may break or be missing, causing pressure drop. In that case, you need to tighten it again.

2. Short service life

The service life of the bladder directly affects the service life of the bladder accumulator. Many factors affect the bladder service life, such as the working medium not being compatible with the bladder material, debris entering the bladder, mismatched nominal volume, reciprocating frequency exceeding application requirements when used for energy storage, improper installation, and unscientific pipeline design, etc.
