The pneumatic diaphragm pump, also known as an air-operated pump, is a new energy-saving conveying machine and a mainstream new pump equipment in China. Powered by compressed air, it offers exceptional working condition versatility. It can pump and convey corrosive media, solid particle-containing media, high-viscosity media, volatile media, flammable and explosive media, and hazardous liquid media, suitable for special fluid transfer scenarios that traditional pumps cannot handle. Originally designed by foreign engineer Warren Rupp, it was later introduced to the domestic industrial field. Early domestic equipment relied on imported agents with high procurement costs and difficult maintenance. With the upgrading of domestic industrial manufacturing technology, Chinese pneumatic diaphragm pump technology has become increasingly mature, with market application share far exceeding imported models, adaptable to all-condition special fluid transfer operations.
Based on the acid-base, wear, and corrosion characteristics of the conveyed media, the pump body commonly uses five manufacturing materials for on-demand selection: plastic, aluminum alloy, cast iron, stainless steel, and Teflon.
According to the physical and chemical properties of the conveyed liquid media, the equipment diaphragm uses suitable special polymer and rubber materials for corrosion resistance and deformation-resistant reciprocating operation. Common materials include: butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, fluororubber, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and FEP.
Driven by compressed air alternately actuating bilateral diaphragms for reciprocating deformation, the pump chamber volume changes, combined with one-way valve opening/closing, completing the entire process of media suction and pressurized discharge. Pure pneumatic drive has no motor components, no electric sparks, and no high-temperature operation, making it suitable for conveying flammable and explosive hazardous media. It can be installed in various complex site layouts, compensate for traditional transfer pumps media suction shortcomings.
1. Safe and Reliable Power: Pure compressed air drive, no electrical components, excellent explosion-proof performance.
2. Wide Media Compatibility: Can convey particle-containing, high-viscosity, corrosive, volatile, flammable and explosive special liquids.
3. Complete Material Selection: Pump body and diaphragm dual-dimension material options, adaptable to acid-base and wear multi-conditions.
4. Strong Site Adaptability: Can be deployed in complex working conditions, strong suction capability, adaptable to points where traditional pumps cannot operate.
5. Mature Domestic Technology: Affordable cost, convenient disassembly and maintenance, solving imported pump repair complexity and high cost issues.
6. Strong Operational Stability: Can operate normally under no-load conditions, not prone to pump blockage or burnout, suitable for continuous transfer operations.
Widely used in chemical industry, environmental protection wastewater treatment, coating and ink, mining slurry transfer, pharmaceutical and daily chemical, oil storage and transportation, and anti-corrosion fluid transfer industries. Mainly used for pumping and transferring hazardous, high-viscosity, particle-containing, and corrosive special liquids, adaptable to indoor and outdoor complex working condition fluid transfer operations.
1. Match air source pressure before use, provide stable pressure supply, and avoid pressure fluctuations causing diaphragm fatigue damage.
2. Strictly select pump body and diaphragm materials based on media properties to prevent media from corroding the chamber and diaphragm leakage.
3. When conveying large particle impurity media, install a pre-filter device to reduce the probability of foreign matter jamming pump valves.
4. In flammable and explosive media work sites, keep the air source clean, prohibit unauthorized pressure adjustment, and ensure explosion-proof operational safety.
5. Regularly inspect diaphragm and one-way valve wear and aging; replace consumable parts promptly to maintain suction efficiency.
6. The equipment adapts to multi-directional installation layouts; ensure secure mounting during installation to reduce body vibration from pneumatic reciprocating motion.
