I. Product Introduction

The safety relief valve is also a safety valve of the relief type, and is the core safety protection element of pressure pipelines, pressure vessels, and fluid hydraulic systems. Its core function is overpressure protection for pressurized systems. When system pressure exceeds the rated setting value, the valve automatically opens, discharging part of the system medium to the atmosphere, counterbalancing system pressure, strictly controlling pressure within allowable ranges, avoiding equipment damage and safety accidents caused by system overpressure, and ensuring stable operation of the entire pressurized equipment.

II. Core Performance Parameters and Opening/Closing Classification

The core parameter of the relief safety valve is medium displacement, which is determined by the valve seat diameter and valve disc opening height. Based on valve disc opening height differences, it is divided into two categories: low-lift type and full-lift type:

1. Low-lift safety valve: Valve disc opening height is 1/40 to 1/20 of valve seat throat diameter, with small stroke and gentle pressure relief flow;

2. Full-lift safety valve: Valve disc opening height is 1/4 of valve seat throat diameter, with large flow diameter and stronger short-time pressure relief capacity.

III. Mainstream Valve Body Category Division

In addition to conventional models, the industry has derived multiple dedicated valve types for specialized working conditions: pulse relief valve, pilot safety valve, safety switching valve, safety expansion valve, and static blade relief valve. The most widely used on the market are spring-type and lever-type two basic structure safety valves.

IV. Spring-Type Safety Valve Features

Spring-type safety valves rely on spring force for opening/closing reset operations, divided into sealed and non-sealed two structure types. For flammable, explosive, and toxic medium pipelines, sealed type is suitable; for steam and inert gas medium pipelines, non-sealed type can be selected. The valve body is equipped with a manual wrench structure, which can verify valve disc opening/closing flexibility, and under special conditions can be manually operated for emergency pressure relief.

V. Lever-Type Safety Valve Features

Lever-type safety valves rely on lever hammer force to drive valve body opening/closing, using counterweight to regulate opening pressure. The overall shape is large, occupying large installation space, with limited working condition adaptation, and fewer applicable scenarios than spring-type safety valves.

VI. High-Temperature Condition Selection Requirements

For working conditions with high medium operating temperature, dedicated safety valves with built-in radiator structure must be selected. The heat dissipation structure can isolate high-temperature conduction, protecting internal springs and sealing accessories, ensuring stable valve body opening/closing performance, and extending high-temperature service life.

VII. Daily Inspection and Maintenance Requirements

To ensure stable safety valve operation and extend valve body service life, regular inspection and maintenance are required during equipment use, checking for valve body operation abnormalities: regularly verify valve body medium leakage, valve core opening/closing sticking, spring corrosion aging and other fault issues; synchronously check adjusting screw, pressure regulating handwheel locking screw, locking nut fastening status, checking for nut loosening hazards. Once valve body abnormalities or fastener loosening issues are detected, promptly implement protective rectification and maintenance to avoid safety failures.

VIII. Periodic Disassembly Maintenance Standards

In-use safety valves must be periodically disassembled for comprehensive internal cleaning, component flaw detection, and sealing surface grinding repair. After maintenance and grinding, the valve body set pressure must be re-verified, and only after passing verification can it be reinstalled for use, reducing valve body replacement costs and ensuring pressure relief accuracy.

IX. Outdoor Installation Protection Requirements

For safety valves installed in open outdoor conditions, protective components must be installed, providing valve body protection, blocking rain, mist, dust, and corrosive impurities from entering the valve body and exhaust pipeline interior, avoiding impurities sticking valve cores and corroding internal springs and sealing structures, ensuring smooth opening/closing pressure relief action.

X. Low-Temperature Environment Special Requirements

When ambient temperature is below 0 degrees C in low-temperature conditions, anti-freeze insulation facilities must be installed, implementing valve body anti-freeze and de-icing measures, preventing medium inside the valve body from freezing and sticking valve cores, freezing damage to sealing components, ensuring safety valve opening/closing sensitivity and reliable pressure relief action in low-temperature environments.

XIII. Usage Precautions

1. Establish a regular inspection mechanism, regularly check valve body leakage, opening/closing sticking, spring corrosion issues, verify pressure regulating locking nut fastening;

2. When valve body faults or fastener loosening are detected, immediately stop for rectification, do not operate with faults under pressure;

3. Strictly execute periodic disassembly cleaning, sealing grinding processes, complete pressure setting after maintenance, only reuse after passing;

4. Outdoor installed valve bodies must be protected against dust and water, blocking dirt from entering valve body and discharge pipeline, reducing component corrosion;

5. In low-temperature environments below zero, anti-freeze facilities must be installed to prevent medium freezing from affecting opening pressure relief performance;

6. Do not arbitrarily change adjusting screw or adjusting wheel opening, avoid unauthorized changing of set pressure, losing safety protection function;

7. For long-term unused safety valves, re-verify pressure relief sensitivity before installation, clean cavity impurities before use;

8. Match medium to valve body structure, flammable, explosive, and toxic media must use sealed spring safety valves.
